No more job-kvetching
Mar. 2nd, 2007 12:24 pmWell, I've done it. I have a new job. After much grouching and many times many bad days, I accepted a position in the Burn Trauma ICU. I started 2 weeks ago, and I have to say that despite the initial nerves, I'm having a great time. For most of the last 4 years I've deraded going to work ...I'd almost forgot how good it can be when you work with people who love what they do, and the unit is well staffed. I'm learning new things every day (which also hasn't happened in about 4 years), and loving it. Along with my scheduled shifts every week, I have to go in and do an additional 4 or so hours of readings, but it's all interesting stuff, and best of all it's all new to me. (novelty being a good thing after 13 years in my field). There will be much education, many new certifications and classes and a *lot* of good coming out of this.
And I'm a lot less stressed too!
